I really dig Sam Roberts – he’s a great artist, his band is great and you should really check out his music. I just wanted to share something I found kinda cool.
I listen to his music on my ipod Touch which displays all the album cover art each time songs play (duh, like everyone else’s iPod) – but everytime I saw the Sam Roberts cover art, I thought it was one of those rapatronic/high speed photos of nuclear explosions. it only became obvious that it was an illustration of people and animals when I looked closer. So you go, huh? What the hell is a rapatronic photo? And why did I even know what they are? Haha. I’m a nerd and I read Carl Sagan’s Cosmos when I was a teen – and saw my first rapatronic images there.
Well here are the images I am referring to side by side:
They sort of look the same right?
If you blur the Sam Roberts cover with a Gaussian Blur of 8 or so pixels you get this:
Even closer right? Even if this was just an accident – I find it very cool and interesting. Especially the connection between nuclear explosions and the “end of the world”.
