Rum (or Brandy) Slush

2603816573_9ec65cfbec Just tweeted about this as one of my fave summer drinks today in response to @thehypercube’s Question of the day.  Totally tasty – and you can try your own variants.

Ingredients:

7 cups Water
2 cups white sugar
2 cups water
4 tea bags (black or orange pekoe)
1 12 oz can frozen orange juice thawed
2-3 cups of rum or brandy (or vodka or gin)
Mix: Ginger Ale (sprite, 7up or sparkling lemonade work good too)

Instructions (pretty easy – just need time to freeze it up – 24 hours or so)

Boil the 7 cups or water and dissolve the 2 cups sugar. Cool. Put in an ice cream pail or some other bowl you have no problem throwing in the freezer (and covering it helps prevent it from freezer burning or picking up freezer-stink).

Add 4 black (or orange pekoe) tea bags to 2 cups boiling water and leave until water cools.  Squeeze and discard tea bags. Add cooled tea to first mixture.

Add: 1 (12 oz.) can frozen orange juice, thawed to the pail, Mix in 2-3 cups rum or brandy (can also use vodka or gin). Freeze for 24 hours.

To serve, put 2 scoops of ‘slush’ into glass and top with favorite mix: ginger ale (but you can use 7up, sprite, sparkling lemonade etc).

Delicious when it is hot, but equally awesome in the winter because you keep the slush in a snowbank or in your front porch etc.

  1. It awesome to stumble on a little additional instruction for renovating (or planning too). If you are looking for a few really good tips, I also recommend checking out Masterrenovator.com, the site is full of great tips for things that I never even thought of.
